Board Of Control For Cricket In India Gets Government Approval For India-Pakistan Series

The Pakistan Cricket Board said that "the Indo-Pak series will be held in December next year" as the Board of Control for Cricket in India has received a green signal from its government, according to Parvez Jabri of the BUSINESS RECORDER. A PCB official said that "the series is likely to be held in the UAE." The official said, "The PCB is hopeful that a final shape would be given by the BCCI to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between both the boards." The official said that the chairman will be attending the Int'l Cricket Council annual conference underway at Melbourne and "will discuss the MoU with his Indian counterpart" (BUSINESS RECORDER, 6/24). GO CRICKET reported the BCCI "got clearance from the Indian government to play against arch-rivals Pakistan in a full series." Former Pakistan cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz "welcomed the resumption of cricket between the two nations," attributing the breakthrough to the efforts of PCB Chair Najam Sethi. He said, "Sethi had been paying special attention for the revival of Indo-Pak series and it is great to hear that" (GO CRICKET, 6/24).
