Shabab parted ways with MARCOS PAQUETA, "their coach for the last two seasons" (THE NATIONAL, 6/22). ... Germany's JOSEF FENDT has been re-elected for a fifth term as Int'l Luge Federation president. Fendt was unanimously elected to the head of the int'l Olympic federations at the 62nd FIL Congress in Austria. Secretary General SVEIN ROMSTAD and VP HARALD STEYRER were re-elected. EINARS FOGELIS was confirmed as VP technical matters and CLAIRE DELNEGRO as VP sport (FIL). ... Nike named Global Young Athletes VP & GM REENIE BENZIGER VP/Global Apparel (Nike). ... Point 3 Basketball has hired MIKKO SIMON as the brand's new VP of marketing. Simon brings more than 15 years of int'l sports and marketing experience to Point 3 and will be responsible for brand strategy, marketing operations and driving global consumer awareness (Point 3).
