EBay CEO JOHN DONAHOE will join Nike’s board, "bringing e-commerce experience to a company that’s increasingly looking for ways to use the Internet to boost sales." Nike "is turning to technology such as activity-tracking software to help maintain growth." Its digital strategy "is part of an ambitious plan" to reach $36B in yearly revenue by the end of fiscal '17. Donahoe, 54, has been CEO of eBay since '08, "overseeing an online shopping site and the PayPal payment system." Before joining the company in '05, he was the CEO of Bain & Co. (BLOOMBERG, 6/19). ... BJ-League Commissioner TOSHIMITSU KAWACHI was appointed to the Japan Basketball Association board on Saturday. The board "has been tasked with forming the new, tentatively named P League" for the '16-17 season. Kawachi has been BJ-League commissioner since its establishment in '04 (JAPAN TIMES, 6/22). ... The 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee "will appoint" Olympic Gold Medalist KOJI MUROFUSHI as its sports director, a post in which "he will serve as a representative of athletes in the preparation and hosting of the 2020 event." Murofushi, 39, "now serves as an executive board member of the committee" (YOMIURI SHIMBUN, 6/29). ... Spanish second division side Mallorca has announced that MIGUEL ÁNGEL NADAL, a former player of Mallorca, FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team, "will be the club’s sporting director starting from next season." Nadal replaces ex-goalkeeper ANTONI PRATS, and "will be responsible for the club’s sporting development," with the rest of the Nadal family -- including world No. 1 tennis player RAFAEL -- "remaining linked to the club as shareholders" (INSIDE SPANISH FOOTBALL, 6/22).
