Portuguese Club Benfica Extends Adidas Sponsorship Through 2021

Portuguese club Benfica "have renewed their global kit supply deal" with adidas through to '21, according to SOCCEREX. Adidas has supplied the Lisbon club’s kit for over 30 years, "except a short break" in the early '90s when the club "sealed deals with Danish firm Hummel and Brazilian brand Olympikus." The club’s previous deal with adidas, which ran for 10 years through to the end of the '13-14 campaign, was worth an average of $6.1M per season-- though the new deal "is expected to be worth substantially more." Benfica "have announced that Hospital da Luz is the new official medical provider of the club." Hospital da Luz, which is based close to the club, "will provide clinical care to the team’s players in liaison with Benfica’s own medical department." It is a two-year deal (SOCCEREX, 6/20).
