NRL Side Canberra Raiders Re-Signs Sponsor Huawei For Next Season

National Rugby League club Canberra Raiders has re-signed "major sponsor" Huawei for next season, according to Jon Tuxworth of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. The club is "hopeful it will receive its hopes of playing a premiership match against Manly" in the company's home of China as soon as next year. Raiders Chair Allan Hawke "planned to discuss the issue" with NRL CEO David Smith. Hawke: "I'm very keen if we can work with the NRL to pull that off. That game going throughout China has the potential to be a big boost, and I'll be talking to Dave Smith about that. I have no doubt if we can get Dave Smith to go over there and have a look at the operation, then I think we'll pull it off.'' It is understood that Smith "hopes to visit China later this year." Hawke "is hopeful Huawei's retention will allow them to pursue more big-name signings" for '15 (SMH, 6/9).
