Handball Bundesliga (HBL) club THW Kiel Managing Dir KLAUS ELWARDT will step down from his position at the end of the season. The 58-year-old, who took over the position in June '11, informed the club's board about his decision several weeks ago. The club has not yet announced who will replace Elwardt (THW Kiel). ... Wasserman Media Group announced that London-based execs DAVID KOGAN and SARA MUNDS are leaving. Their successors will be announced shortly (Wasserman). ... FIBA has elected USIE RICHARDS president of FIBA Americas. Richards previously served as president of the National Federation of the U.S. Virgin Islands and president of the Caribbean Basketball Confederation and is a member of FIBA's Central Board. Also elected were ALBERTO GARCIA (secretary general of FIBA Americas), JENARO MARCHAND (secretary general emeritus, FIBA Americas) and JIM TOOLEY (FIBA Americas treasurer) (FIBA). ... Romania Liga 1 side Steaua Bucharest appointed former Spanish player CONSTANTIN GALCA coach. Galca agreed to a two-year contract to succeed LAURENTIU REGHECAMPF, "who leaves behind a squad who have won two consecutive Romanian League titles" (FOOTBALL ESPANA, 6/3). ... SERGI BARJUÁN "has been chosen as the new coach" of Real Betis, which will compete in the Spanish second division next season (AS, 6/4). ... Spanish second division side Real Valladolid announced that JOAN FRANCESC FERRER SICILIA will replace JUAN IGNACIO MARTÍNEZ as its coach. Sicilia, known as Rubi, signed a two-year contract (LIBERTAD DIGITAL, 6/4). ... Barcelona named ALBERT SOLER its new Dir of Institutional Relations (LIBERTAD DIGITAL, 6/4).
