Bundesliga Club Tries To Save More Than $4M To Improve Club's Economic Performance

Bundesliga club Werder Bremen will try to save €3M ($4.1M) as the club "made a loss for the third consecutive season," according to Sonnenberg & Balczuweit of BILD. With a loss of almost €9M, the club "has to start saving." However, it "will not touch the salaries of its players." Instead, Bremen "will try to save in other areas, including chairs, pens and stadium magazine." Club President Klaus Filbry said, "We want to increase our economic performance. It will affect all areas." Each department head "will receive a target of how much money his or her department will have to save." In the media and communications department, the savings "will affect the stadium magazine." Instead of a glossy magazine for each home game, there will be a reduced version (40-50 pages). The savings: €250,000 ($340,500) (BILD, 6/4).
