League Notes: ECB Forced Into Apology Over Kevin Pietersen Claims

England cricket Managing Dir Paul Downton and the England Cricket Board "have been forced into an embarrassing apology" to former cricketer Kevin Pietersen after admitting that comments made nine days ago "breached the confidentiality agreement signed when the batsman was released from his central contract." The termination of Pietersen’s England career "has become a public-relations nightmare for the board, which was initially criticised for saying little about the breakdown in relations and has now landed itself in trouble for saying too much" (LONDON TIMES, 5/31). ... Cricketers "with suspect bowling actions may not have to travel all the way to the University of Western Australia to undergo corrective measures for suspect bowling actions." A team from the ICC "will visit the sprawling 1.6 lakh square feet, state-of-the-art facility here in the second week on June" (THE HINDU, 5/31). ... The Bangladesh Cricket Board tribunal "will need a few more days to pass its judgment over the match fixing allegations which disgraced the second edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) last year.'' Chief of the tribunal, former justice Khademul Islam "referred to complications behind the delay of the judgment." Khademul:  “We have already submitted the papers of the entire proceedings to those involved with the case. The judgment will be made soon” (DHAKA TRIBUNE, 6/1). ...
