Spanish Basketball League Names Former LFP, NBA Exec Francisco Roca Exec President

The Spanish Basketball League's (ACB) Clubs Assembly on Monday announced that it unanimously named Francisco Roca as its exec president, according to EL PAIS. Roca previously worked as the director general of the Spanish Football League (LFP) for eight years and was the NBA's director in Southern Europe for more than a decade. He "takes over a seat that had been vacant for eight months." Roca "has the support" of Spanish Superior Sports Council President Miguel Cardenal. For months, "ACB clubs were unable to agree on a name while reviewing a list of half a dozen candidates" (EL PAIS, 5/26). Roca said, "It is a very exciting day for me on my first day as president of the ACB. I am very satisfied and grateful that the clubs put their confidence in me. We have to fight to regain the confidence and passion for basketball in Spain" (EFE, 5/27).
