The first stop came at the Madrid City Council, where the team met with Madrid Mayor Ana Botella. The "caravan made its final stop at the Bernabéu, where players offered the trophy to the fans" (EL PAIS, 5/25). The AP reported about "50,000 Real Madrid fans" packed the team's stadium on Sunday. The celebrations of Real's victory "carried on through the Spanish capital" the night after the European champions "arrived home in the early hours."
