Liquidated Spanish Club UD Salamanca's Stadium To Be Auctioned Off On June 19

The stadium of former Spanish football club UD Salamanca, which was liquidated last summer, "will go up for auction in June," according to Gorka Pérez of EL PAIS. The club "disappeared last June after failing to pay off its debt to the state, and the Spanish tax authorities are now taking to auction the 7,480 square meters covered by Salamanca's old facility." The starting price is €14.75M ($20.1M). The grounds where Salamanca's Helmántico stadium was located "belong to the municipality of Villares de la Reina, which is located three kilometers from Salamanca." The land is "classified as 'for sports use,' so it cannot be urbanized." The auction is scheduled to take place on June 19 (EL PAIS, 5/20).
