Football Notes: La Liga Osasuna President Blames Barrier's Collapse On Overcrowding

La Liga side Osasuna President Miguel Archanco has blamed the incident on Sunday "in which 10 Osasuna supporters were taken to hospital after a crowd barrier gave way against Real Betis on too many home fans getting into one area of the ground." The game was "stopped after 11 minutes, immediately after" a goal by Osasuna's Oriol Riera. Osasuna said on its website that 68 people were hurt, with 10 of those "being taken to hospital." The "worst reported injury was a broken leg" (ESPN, 5/19). ... A group of 1,000 members of Argentine fan gangs "will attend the World Cup with tickets paid for" by the Argentine FA. The "participants in the scandalous 'tour,' not content with this amount, are demanding an additional 200 tickets" from AFA President Julio Grondona (EL MUNDO, 5/18).
