Energie Cottbus Loses Shirt Sponsor Tropical Island After Relegation To 3rd League

Relegated 2nd Bundesliga club Energie Cottbus "has to look for a new shirt sponsor for the upcoming season," according to the SID. The club announced on Tuesday that its current main sponsor, amusement park Tropical Island, "will not extend its shirt sponsorship with the club." However, the park "will remain a partner of the club." Tropical Island said that the decision "is not related to the club's relegation." Cottbus, however, can count on the "majority of its sponsors" for the upcoming 3rd League season. Club Sponsorship Dir Ralf Lempke said, "At least 80% of our partners will maintain their 2nd Bundesliga contract value even after relegation. They really give everything for our club" (SID, 5/6).
