New Zealand Chef De Mission Waddell Says 'No Hiding' From 2016 Rio Olympics Problems

New Zealand Olympic Chef de Mission Rob Waddell said "there is no hiding" from the problems facing the 2016 Rio Olympics, but believes there is still "potential for a great Games," according to Simon Plumb of FAIRFAX NZ NEWS. Waddell said two years out from the event, Olympic Park -- which typically houses the main Olympic stadium and athletes' village -- "is a bare site." Worst affected are Olympic Park and Deodoro -- "which will feature many events involving Kiwis with medal chances, including rugby, equestrian, BMX and kayaking." Waddell said, "You go to Olympic Park and there's not what is supposed to be there. There are buildings missing. They're certainly well aware there's a job to be done" (FAIRFAX NZ NEWS, 5/4).
