Majority Of Germans In Favor Of A Renewed Olympic Bid, Survey Finds

The majority of Germans are "for a renewed Olympic bid," according to the SID. A survey conducted in collaboration with Nuremberg-based marketing research institute puls "found that 75% are in favor of a renewed German Olympic bid." However, five months after a public referendum struck down Munich's potential bid for the 2022 Winter Games, 48% of those surveyed support "the idea of Summer Olympics in Berlin." Hamburg and Munich "follow on the list of preferred summer hosts with 32% and 27%, respectively." In case of a Winter Olympics bid, 42% said Munich "is their preferred candidate." When it comes to deciding between hosting Olympic Games or Euro finals, the "clear majority, 43%, favors hosting European Championships." Only 1 in 4 prefers hosting the Olympic Games over Euro finals (SID, 4/14).
