Event Notes: SEA Games Organizing Committee Announces Celebratory Initiatives

The Singapore SEA Games Organizing Committee announced on Monday "a string of initiatives aimed at increasing interest for the Games, which the Republic will host in June next year." These initiatives will be part of a one-year countdown and include a "Sports Day" at the soon-to-be-completed Sports Hub, "where participants can try their hand at the different sports on offer" (STRAITS TIMES, 4/14). ... Int'l Handball Federation Chief of Competitions Leon Kalin praised the efforts of the Men’s Handball World Championship Qatar 2015 Organizing Committee and said that "he was impressed by the progress that has been made so far." Qatar 2015 Organizing Committee VP Ahmed Mohamed al-Shaabi said that "the preparation work has been going as planned." He added that "the new courts will be a pride to Qatar and the Middle-East once they are completed" (GULF TIMES, 4/13).
