South Korea's Only European Tour Golf Tournament Will Be Moved To Singapore

European Tour officials said on Thursday that "without corporate sponsors," its lone "golf tournament in South Korea will move to Singapore this spring," according to YONHAP. The European Tour and the Asian Tour "announced that the tournament tentatively titled The Championship, originally scheduled to be played in South Korea in May, will be held in Singapore instead." Laguna National Golf and Country Club was "unveiled as the new venue for the May 1-4 tournament." The event started in '08 as the Ballantine's Championship, but "Chivas Brothers withdrew its sponsorship last October." Former tournament promoter Parallel Media Group Chair David Ciclitira said that the organizers are "hoping to bring the tournament back to South Korea" in '15 (YONHAP, 4/10).
