Naples Mayor Says Serie A Side Napoli To Remain At San Paolo

Naples Mayor Luigi De Magistris said that Serie A side Napoli "will remain at their current San Paolo home but that the ground will undergo major redevelopment," according to FOOTBALL ITALIA. De Magistris "also revealed that major progress is being made in ensuring that work on the stadium upgrades begins as soon as possible." De Magistris: “I can confirm that we are on the right track. We have now reached an agreement, thanks to [Napoli President Aurelio] De Laurentiis making himself available. He will pay the amount due before we move on to discuss the next steps" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 4/7). ESPN's Ben Gladwell reported De Laurentiis "was involved in an angry confrontation with a fan outside Parma's Tardini stadium." La Gazzetta dello Sport said that De Laurentiis "had already given short-shrift to a journalist before getting into a minibus to leave the venue." After hearing the insults of a fan, "he got out of the vehicle and confronted him" (ESPN, 4/7).
