The Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) "will not extend the expiring contract" of biathlon head coach REMO KRUG. The federation informed Krug about its decision on Friday. Krug had been Austria's biathlon head coach since '12 (KURIER, 4/4). ... German Tennis Federation (DTB) President KARL-GEORG ALTENBURG "will not run for re-election and step down in November." Altenburg, who started a new job at Deutsche Bank on April 2, led the organization for three years (SPIEGEL ONLINE, 4/3). ... The Royal Western India Turf Club's stewards' body has held trainer C.D. KATRAK "guilty under the breach of medication rules of the club and suspended his license for 45 days" and also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 ($166). Katrak, however, will "serve a suspension of 135 days in all as the stewards decided to add the 90-day suspended sentence he was carrying since his mercy petition" was accepted in '12 (MUMBAI MIRROR, 4/6). ... National Rugby League side Newcastle Knights forward ALEX MCKINNON has announced his engagement to girlfriend TEIGAN POWER and declared that "he will walk her down the aisle" less than two weeks after his neck was broken in a lifting tackle (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 4/6). ... Potential Socceroo BAILEY WRIGHT "has been caught up in a major betting scandal in England after being one of a number of players arrested over claims of alleged spot-fixing." Wright, who plays for English third tier club Preston North End, "was one of six players from the club arrested but subsequently released on bail on Friday" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 4/7). ... Brasileiro club Atlético Mineiro President ALEXANDRE KALIL said that former EPL side West Brom striker NICOLAS ANELKA "has joined" the club. The 35-year-old "has been without a club since being sacked" last month following his use of the allegedly antisemitic "quenelle" gesture when celebrating a goal (ESPN, 4/6).

BACK TO SCHOOL: Former ManU Manager ALEX FERGUSON "has transferred from the English football Premier League to the American Ivy league with a job at Harvard Business School." Ferguson "will kick off a long-term teaching contract in executive education this spring, lecturing senior managers who take the school’s course in the business of entertainment, media and sports." Harvard did not disclose Ferguson’s fee, "how many appearances he will make each year or how long each lecture will be." While "he is openly tickled by the chance to impart grandiose thoughts about management, he has also privately disclosed that his move is part of a quest to keep his mind active and avoid sliding into torpor, the lot of so many once-lauded football managers in their dotage" (FINANCIAL TIMES, 4/4).
