Sky Draws Strong Ratings With Bundesliga Games; RTL Scores With F1 Qualifying Session

German pay-TV channel Sky "recorded strong ratings for its Bundesliga broadcasts on Saturday afternoon," according to Manuel Nunez Sanchez of QUOTENMETER. An average of 1.06 million viewers tuned in to watch Sky's simulcast or one of its five individual game feeds starting at 3:30pm. The number translated into a market share of 8.3%. In the target demographic 14-49, Sky's coverage attracted 550,000 viewers and had a 11.4% share. Sky's broadcast of the late game between Borussia Dortmund and VfL Wolfsburg was watched by 730,000 viewers and obtained a 3.2% share. In the target demographic, Dortmund's 2-1 win had a market share of 5.5% as 400,000 viewers tuned in. German public broadcaster ARD attracted 5.1 million viewers to Bundesliga highlight's program, "Sportschau." The show, which started at 6:30pm, had a market share of 23.7%. In the target demographic, the show attracted 1.47 million viewers and had a market share of 21.1%.

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL: German public broadcaster ZDF showed the women's World Cup qualifier between Germany and Ireland starting at 4pm. The game, which Germany won 3-2, was watched by 1.36 million viewers and had a market share of 9.6%. In the target demographic, ZDF's coverage attracted 120,000 viewers and had a 2.5% share.

F1 IN BAHRAIN:
German free-to-air TV channel RTL attracted an average of 1.99 million viewers to its broadcast of the F1 qualifying session from Bahrain starting at 4:30pm. The number equaled a market share of 13.6%. In the target demographic, the session in which Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg won the pole position for Sunday's Grand Prix obtained market shares of 9.4% and 12.1% while 630,000 viewers tuned in (QUOTENMETER, 4/6).
