Tottenham Considering Playing At Various Stadiums During White Hart Lane Rebuild

EPL side Tottenham is currently "considering radical plans" to play its home matches at various different grounds, including Wembley, for an entire season "in order to build a new stadium at White Hart Lane," according to Tom Collomosse of the London INDEPENDENT. Spurs "are looking for a new home" with both the national stadium and the Olympic Stadium "on their radar," although the home of the MK Dons, Stadium MK, is also "said to be a viable option." The initial view was that Tottenham would target a single stadium for its home fixtures during the '16-17 campaign, but that it "could opt for different grounds" depending on the nature of its opponents. Tottenham "would seek to stage high-profile matches" at Wembley or the Olympic Stadium. Games against teams with lesser appeal "might take place at a smaller venue." The prospect of Spurs playing home fixtures at the Olympic Stadium "is particularly intriguing." The club fought a bitter battle with West Ham for the right to take over the arena after the 2012 London Olympics (INDEPENDENT, 4/4). In London, John Drayton reported Stadium MK, home of League One Milton Keynes Dons, will have its capacity increased to 32,000 in time for the 2015 Rugby Union World Cup and "is an option for Tottenham's less attractive fixtures." Sportsmail revealed earlier this week that the north London club "failed with a bid for Upton Park, with West Ham preferring to sell their ground to housing developers Galliard" (DAILY MAIL, 4/4).
