Delta Beverages Agrees To $3.6M Sponsorship Deal With Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League

Delta Beverages announced a $3.6M sponsorship package for Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League, "double the cash injection that was enjoyed by the top-flight in the past three seasons," according to NEWS DAY. The new deal translates to $1.2M per season, broken down into $700,000 for the league and $500,000 for the new 16-team tournament, Chibuku Super Cup. In each of the last three seasons, the league received $600,000 from the sponsors, but "in a major vote of confidence for the league, Delta upped the stakes which would bring the much-needed competition in the league." Winners will get $100,000, up from $70,000, while the bottom two teams which will be relegated will get $5,000 each (NEWS DAY, 3/27).
