Spanish Public Broadcaster TVE Acquires Rights To Carry Spain's Euro 2016 Qualifiers

Spanish public broadcaster TVE "has reclaimed the Spanish national football team," according to José Félix Díaz of EL CONFIDENCIAL. TVE "has acquired the broadcast rights for the first phase of qualification for Euro 2016, which will begin in September." UEFA decided to "change its commercial exploitation of the tournament's group phase." UEFA President Michel Platini and his organization "decided to take a step forward and apply the Champions League format to the national team tournament, which is held every four years." In this way, "UEFA is managing the centralized sale of both TV and advertising rights." The federations "are being added to the competition, participating in the distribution of all the revenue that the competition generates in terms of advertising and the sale of TV rights" (EL CONFIDENCIAL, 3/25).
