Plans For DFB Performance Center At Horse Racecourse Close To Being Finalized

The plans for a new German Football Federation (DFB) performance center at Frankfurt's horse racecourse "are reportedly close to being finalized," according to the SID. Frankfurt Mayor Olaf Cunitz said, "All talks that we have had so far and all signals from DFB officials leave no doubt that the die has been cast for Frankfurt." The contract between the federation and the city "could be signed as early as Friday." The performance center will have a reported price tag between €20M-€40M ($28M-$56M). The center, which would be in close proximity to the DFB headquarters, "will include several football fields, a fitness and rehab center as well as running tracks and media facilities." The racecourse "is expected to stop operations by the end of '15 at the latest" (SID, 3/18).
