Pay-TV Channel Sky Sport News HD Continues Positive Trend With 57% Viewership Increase

German pay-TV operator Sky "is very satisfied with the development of its sports news channel Sky Sport News HD," which was launched in '12, according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. The channel's "daily average viewership has increased by 57%, from 210,000 viewers in '12 to 330,000 in '13." During the last 12 months, viewers "stayed an average of 18 minutes on the channel." At the end of February, Sky Sport News HD "set a new viewership record as 600,000 viewers tuned in." Sky Media Network, which is the marketing arm of the pay-TV operator, "is also happy about the channel's positive development." Sky Media Network Managing Dir Martin Michel said, "Sky Sport News HD has made an extraordinary development and belongs with its increasing viewership due to its editorial quality and actuality to the top surroundings for advertisers" (DWDL, 3/17).
