Poll Shows Majority Of Russians Praise Sochi Olympics Organization

The "overwhelming majority" of Russians stated that "they were pleased with how the Sochi Olympics were organized," according to R-SPORT. A poll was conducted by the state All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center on the last two days of the Feb. 7-23 Games, questioning 1,600 people from 130 cities. A website statement said, “That Russia properly organized the Winter Olympic Games -- 93 percent of our citizens came to such a conclusion.” Respondents "felt most proud" of figure skater Julia Lipnitskaia (33%), who became the youngest Gold Medalist of the Games. The "biggest disappointment" came from the Russian hockey team (31%) that fell to Finland in the quarterfinals (R-SPORT, 3/3).
