River Plate, Online Retailer Netshoes Ink Argentine Record 2.5-Year, $3.75M Sleeve Deal

Argentine first division side River Plate announced a two-and-a-half year deal with "online sports goods retailer Netshoes" as its sleeve sponsor in a deal worth $3.75M, making it the "most lucrative sleeve sponsorship deal in the history" of Argentine football, according to SOCCEREX. River Plate's previous sleeve sponsor, cookware manufacturer Tramontina, "is thought to have paid" $650,000 per year under the previous deal. In addition to "receiving branding on the team's shirts, Netshoes will also work with the club on developing its new online merchandise shop." River Plate President Rodolfo D'Onofrio said, "It really is a joy to have reached this agreement with a global company, recognized in the industry" (SOCCEREX, 3/3). D'Onofrio: "Having Netshoes is taking a step forward in what we want to do with River. Starting today, all River Plate fans in the world will be able to buy shirts and much more that we will make available through Netshoes" (River Plate).
