Construction Firm MCM Files Second Lawsuit Against Barcelona Over La Masia Project

Construction firm MCM "has filed another lawsuit" against Barcelona at a local court, according to MARCA. MCM's claim "relates to alleged arrears" totaling €160,403 ($220,800) -- plus interest -- for the "construction of the new La Masia." The first lawsuit, "which seeks damages" of up to €100M ($137.6M) for "breach of contract, was lodged several months ago and will be heard in court" on July 3. That suit "concerns an agreement signed between MCM and the club to pursue advertising on the façades of the new La Masia, the revenue from which was supposed to be split equally" between the club and MCM. Barça is "very much on edge over this initial suit, owing to the convincing evidence the plaintiff has submitted: namely, correspondence between the club's Chief Marketing Officer, Laurent Colette, and MCM" (MARCA, 3/3).
