Action-Sports Event Munich Mash To Replace X Games At Olympic Park In July

Munich "will host the action-sports event 'Munich Mash' in July to replace X Games Munich, which ESPN unexpectedly canceled in November," according to Ralf Tögel of the SÜDDEUTSCHE ZEITUNG. Olympic Park Munich spokesperson Arno Hartung said that the city "will invest around" €1M ($1.38) for the event. He also said that the park "expects around 40,000 spectators to attend Munich Mash." Last summer's X Games attracted 120,000 spectators. However, the event "will be reduced from four to two days." Munich Mash, which will start on July 18 with an opening concert, "will include three disciplines: motocross, BMX and mountain bike slopestyle." The Olympic Park "teamed up with Red Bull in order to carry out the event." Tickets for Munich Mash will go on sale on March 12 (SÜDDEUTSCHE ZEITUNG, 2/26).
