ZDF Scores High Ratings With Champions League Game Broadcast On Wednesday

German public broadcaster ZDF "attracted more than 6 million viewers to its broadcast of the Champions League game between FC Schalke and Real Madrid," according to Sidney Schering of QUOTENMETER. The game, which started at 8:45pm, was watched by 6.73 million viewers on Wednesday evening. The number translated into a market share of 21.4%. In the target demographic 14-49, Real's 6-1 win attracted 2.37 million viewers and had a 19% market share. ZDF's pregame coverage, which started at 8:25pm, was watched by 4.49 million viewers including 1.55 million in the target demographic. The resulting market shares were 17.1% and 15.1%, respectively. After the game broadcast, the channel "showed highlights of Wednesday's second round of 16 matchup between Galatasaray and Chelsea." The game summary, which started at 10:45pm, attracted 4.74 million viewers. The number resulted in market shares of 22.6% and 21.6% (QUOTENMETER, 2/27).
