Borussia Dortmund Wants To Solidify Position As Germany's Second Elite Team

Bundesliga Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said that he "wants to solidify the position of the club as Germany's second elite team after Bayern Munich for the long run," according to SPORT1. He said, "We want to be Germany's second football lighthouse. The lighthouse doesn't have to be as big as the red and white one in the South -- but the black and yellow one has to stand steady and it has to shine." The 54-year-old called the current situation in the Bundesliga, with Bayern Munich being 19 points clear of second placed Bayer Leverkusen, "troubling." He said, "The current situation isn't good for the Bundesliga" (SPORT1, 2/25).
