Second Bundesliga Club FC Kaiserslautern Agrees To New Stadium Lease Deal

Second Bundesliga club FC Kaiserslautern "has reached a new stadium lease deal with the city council," according to the SWR. Under the new deal, the club will pay €2.4M ($3.3M) annually in the 2nd Bundesliga and €3.6M ($5M) should it get promoted to the top flight. So far, Kaiserslautern has paid €3.2M ($4.4M) per year. In addition, the club "will have to pay part of its DFB-Pokal (German Cup) revenue to the city-owned stadium operating corporation." After its cup victory against Leverkusen, the club immediately paid €250,000 ($344,000). Should Kaiserslautern reach the final, it would have to pay an additional €500,000 ($688,000). The city council "also agreed to the sale of the training facility at the Fröhnerhof." The club purchased the facility for €2.6M ($3.6M) and wants to build its new youth academy there (SWR, 2/25).
