German Car Brand Opel To Continue Football Sponsorship Deals

German car brand Opel "has signed early contract extensions with Bundesliga clubs Bayer Leverkusen and SC Freiburg," according to EIFEL ZEITUNG. Opel, which is a subsidiary of General Motors, "will therefore again sponsor four Bundesliga clubs during the '14-15 season as it is certain that Freiburg will stay in the top flight." But even if Freibrug gets relegated, Opel "will continue its partnership with the club." The contracts with Borussia Dortmund and FSV Mainz "were already signed for the long-term." However, Opel "will not continue its partnership with 2nd Bundesliga club Fortuna Dusseldorf, which is set to expire at the end of the season." Opel "returned to the domestic football sponsorship scene after a 10-year hiatus" in Aug. '12 (EIFEL ZEITUNG, 2/23).
