Handball Bundesliga (HBL) club HSV Hamburg "has reportedly fired" its Managing Dir CHRISTOPH WENDT. Local media outlets report that Wendt "is accused of endangering the club's license for the next season because of faulty actions" (SID, 2/18). ... Spanish second division side Cordoba hired ALBERT FERRER as its coach "for the rest of the season" on Monday. Cordoba fired former coach PABLO VILLA last week after a loss at home against Eibar (LIBERTAD DIGITAL, 2/17). ... Spanish second division side Mallorca majority shareholder and VP LORENZO SERRA FERRER "resigned on Monday as the club's sporting director" (EFE, 2/17). ... Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande coach MARCELLO LIPPI "has decided not to extend his contract." Lippi joined Guangzhou in '12 and his contract will expire at the end of '14 (GLOBAL TIMES, 2/17). ... Sports Minister PETER DUTTON announced Australian Sports Anti-Doping Association CEO AURORA ANDRUSKA had decided "not to seek another term in office when her current contract expires in May and would retire from the public service." Dutton paid tribute to Andruska’s “distinguished” 37-year career in the public service (THE AUSTRALIAN, 2/19). ... Havas Sports & Entertainment has appointed JÈRÈMY GUESNON as head of new business and THIBAUT THOUZERY as head of creativity for its French office. Guesnon will be in charge of new business development, leading a team of five people. He began his career at Alliance Group as a communications officer, where he was responsible for sponsorship and advertising. Thouzery will work with both the creative and digital teams to provide cross-channel and creative solutions for HS&E’s clients. Thibaut has more than 10 years of experience in consumer-centric, cross channel activation strategies and social CRM, having worked at Ogilvy Actions, Wunderman, Dagobert, and Union Fullsix (HS&E).
