DFL President Says Goal-Line Technology May Only Be Introduced In Bundesliga

It is possible that goal-line technology "will only be introduced in Germany's top flight football league, Bundesliga, due to cost concerns," according to the SID. German Football League (DFL) President Reinhard Rauball said, "It is possible. At the league meeting in March, we will have to decide; if the [goal-line technology] will be introduced in the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga? Or will it only be introduced in the Bundesliga?" It also remains unclear "what goal-line technology system will be introduced and when." Rauball: "Then we'll have to make a regulation for the DFB-Pokal (German Cup), which includes lower level clubs that host games. However, it is certainly possible to rent the system for a game" (SID, 2/11).
