Myanmar has turned to former Singapore coach RADDY AVRAMOVIC to "be their new football guru." Avramovic was "unveiled by the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF)" after signing a one-and-a-half year contract (STRAITS TIMES, 2/8). ... YU ZAIQING of China "was elected to fill a vacant position" as IOC VP in the IOC session on Friday. Yu, 62, an IOC member since '00, "had been on the IOC executive board" from '04-12 and as VP from '08-12 (XINHUA, 2/7). ... Int'l sports media company MP & Silva on Friday announced the appointment of RENE VALENCIA for the newly created role as VP of Business Development & Sponsorship with effect from last Tuesday. Valencia will be responsible for overseeing the growth and development of the Olympic Council of Asia marketing program, in addition to developing and implementing growth opportunities for MP & Silva’s Asia business. Valencia will be based at MP & Silva's Asia Pacific office in Singapore, and report directly to CEO PETER HUTTON and Senior VP of Int'l Corporate Development & Head of Partnerships MARK GORSKI. Valencia was previously the head of sponsorship for the Doha Asian Games 2006 Organizing Committee, where he led a team that secured partnerships with Samsung, Qatar Airways, Nestle, Technogym, GE, and Swiss Timing (MP & Silva).
