Survey Reveals One In Two Austrians Do Not Care About 2014 Sochi Winter Games

A survey revealed that "one in two Austrians do not care about the Sochi Winter Olympics," according to KURIER. Opinion research institute Spectra "conducted a phone survey to find out how high the interest of the Austrian population is in the upcoming Winter Games." The result was that "one in two Austrians do not care." While 80% said that they "will follow the Alpine events," sports like figure skating or cross-country skiing are interesting to only 10%. Another popular sport in the survey was ski jumping, with around 60% of those surveyed saying that they are "interested in the event." Almost 80% "knew that Sochi is the host city." However, only close to 10% "could name Russia as the host country." Spectra asked 500 selected people above the age of 15 for this survey (KURIER, 1/29).
