Spanish second division side Deportivo La Coruña on Tuesday elected CONSTANTINO FERNÁNDEZ to replace AUGUSTO CESAR LENDOIRO as club president (EL MUNDO, 1/22). ... Spanish second division side Alcorcón President JULIÁN VILLENA announced on Wednesday that he is "stepping down from his position" after Belgian businessman ROLAND DUCHÂTELET recently became the club's majority shareholder. Villena said that "the club will name his replacement in early March" (EFE, 1/22). ... Bosnia hired DUSKO IVANOVIC as the coach of the country's national basketball team on Wednesday. Ivanovic replaces ALEKSANDAR PETROVIC (EFE, 1/22). ... EPL side Southampton named CFO GARETH ROGERS as interim CEO "until the end of the season." The move is designed to give Owner KATHARINA LIEBHERR more time to hire a permanent successor to Chair NICOLA CORTESE, "who left earlier this month." Rogers, a former senior manager at accountancy firm Deloitte, "has been at Southampton" since March '11 (BBC, 1/22). ... Former Chelsea and ManU CEO PETER KENYON "has taken a move into rugby union." Kenyon has been appointed as non-exec chairman of rugby agency Esportif Int'l, "though he will continue to work as a consultant in football." He believes that recent broadcasting rights deals for rugby, plus the fact that rugby sevens will get exposure as a new Olympic sport in '16, "shows that it is on the up" (London INDEPENDENT, 1/22). ... Fox Int'l Channels named U.K. IMG Media PLTV Exec Producer SAM LEADSOM VP of Production based in Singapore. Leadsom is responsible for overseeing Fox Sports’ production of all sports content across Asia, including the live coverage of golf, motor-racing, tennis, football, mixed-martial arts and other sports, as well as their associated original programs (ASIA MEDIA JOURNAL, 1/22).
