Event Notes: Bahrain F1 Grand Prix Confirmed As Second Night Race

The Bahrain F1 Grand Prix on April 6 "will be a night race." The Singapore Grand Prix in September is held at night and Bahrain "will become the second evening race" (DPA, 1/22). ... SPORTFIVE has been appointed official hospitality agency for the FEI Alltech World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy. The contract includes global hospitality sales rights for this year's edition which will take place from Aug. 23-Sept. 7 in Normandy, France (SPORTFIVE). ... The Int'l Rugby Board released details of the tender process for hosting the IRB Sevens World Series rounds from '15-16 and the flagship Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018. Member unions have been given until Feb. 28 to formally express an interest to tender. The deadline for formal tender submissions for hosting a Sevens World Series tournament is set for June 27 and the '15-16 Series hosts will be selected by the IRB EXCO in October (IRB). ... Malaysia "has won the bid to stage the inaugural Special Olympics Football World Cup in November." Special Olympic Malaysia President Datuk Mohd Feisol Hassan said, "We will host 25 teams from six continents" (THE STAR, 1/22). ... U.K.-based Nauticpromo "has signed an initial two-year agreement with the Qatar Marine Sports Federation to run a new J Hydro marine racing series in Doha." Two race weekends "have been planned at the end of February and at the end of March" (GULF TIMES, 1/21).
