Media Notes: IOC Awards 2014-16 Broadcast Rights In Sub-Saharan Africa

The IOC has awarded the broadcast rights in sub-Saharan Africa to Infront Sports & Media for the Sochi Winter Olympics, the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2014 Nanjing Summer Youth Olympic Games. The rights are for free-to-air TV and non-exclusive Internet and mobile broadcast rights (IOC). ... Japanese TV network NHK is "believed to have made an offer to Milan to transmit the club’s training in Asia." Following the arrival of footballer Keisuke Honda at San Siro, interest in the Rossoneri from Japan "has gone stratospheric" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 1/15). ... Sony SIX, the sports and entertainment channel from Multi Screen Media, "has won the exclusive broadcast rights" to the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups. It "has also won the rights to telecast" the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup to be hosted by India (LIVE MINT, 1/15).
