F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone Makes Bid To Buy Bankrupt Nürburgring Racetrack

F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone "believes he is on the short list of possible buyers for the bankrupt Nürburgring racetrack," according to the HANDELSBLATT. Ecclestone said that "an agreement could be reached within the next several weeks." He said, "We've made an offer, and we are now waiting if it will be accepted." He added, "We believe that we can do more for the racetrack than anyone else." The 83-year-old announced last summer that "he could imagine buying the track." However, just a few weeks after the announcement, "he retracted his statement." Therefore "this new revelation comes somewhat as a suprise" (HANDELSBLATT, 1/15).
