Regional Government To Contribute $13.6M To Real Sociedad's Anoeta Stadium Remodeling

The government of Spain's Basque region will participate in the remodeling of La Liga side Real Sociedad's Anoeta stadium with a contribution of €10M ($13.6M), according to the EP. The government's contribution will be split equally each year from '15-17, at €3.3M ($4.5M) per year. The "remodeling project will remove the track surrounding the field and install new seats in this space." Basque Government exec Iñigo Urkullu said of the decision, "We have studied the economic impact that an investment of this nature would have. It was agreed that a better stadium will mean suitable income for the city and the region" (EP, 1/15).
