Premiership rugby side Sale Sharks have appointed former Scottish Rugby Union CEO GORDON MCKIE as the club’s new chairman. McKie was "previously chief executive of the Hong Kong Football Association and has held a number of senior positions in other businesses as well" (MANCUNIAN MATTERS, 1/13). ... BrandRapport Sport and Entertainment named ALEX HENNESSY and PETER WATKINS account directors. Hennessy will be responsible for leading the Samsung/Chelsea global hospitality & events program while Watkins will oversee the LV= sponsorship portfolio which includes the LV= Cup, Harleqins RFC and the ECB County Cricket partnership (BrandRapport). ... Getty Images named former Citi VP/Global Sponsorships & Marketing ETHAN GREEN senior director of global events & sponsorships. Green will be based in N.Y. While at Citi, Green managed the company's sponsorship portfolio and related marketing and PR activation. He also held brand management and sponsorship roles at WWE, Compaq and the Dew Tour (THE DAILY).

SERIE A SACKINGS: Serie A side Livorno, which has slumped to second from bottom after losing four straight Serie A matches, sacked coach DAVIDE NICOLA on Monday. Livorno President ALDO SPINELLI said that ATTILIO PEROTTI, 67, who briefly led the club in Serie B two seasons ago, "would take over from Nicola' (REUTERS, 1/13). ... AC Milan has sacked coach MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI, a day after a 4-3 league defeat to league newcomers Sassuolo. AC Milan is "struggling" in Serie A, lying in 11th place. FILIPPO INZAGHI "is the early favourite to replace Allegri," with ANDRE VILLAS-BOAS "another contender" (London TELEGRAPH, 1/13).
