Real Madrid's Dominance Helps Keep ACB's Average Crowd At 6,000-Plus

Through 14 matchdays, average attendance at this season's Spanish Basketball League (ACB) games "is greater than 6,000 (6,086) for the 10th consecutive season, but during that time, that mark is the second-lowest at this point in the season, exceeding only the '05-06 season (6,062)," according to Nacho Albarrán of AS. The average "was below 6,000 during the first weeks of the first season and improved due in large part to Real Madrid." With a "record winning streak, Real Madrid has spurred more interest than ever before, from both its own fans and from followers of rival clubs hoping their team will be the first to beat Real." Without Real Madrid in the ACB, "the average attendance would be 5,773 fans" (AS, 1/6).
