Spanish Footballers Association Members Submit Claims For $2.09M In Owed Payments

The Spanish Footballers Association (AFE) has submitted to the Spanish Football League (LFP) all of its claims regarding payments owed to players competing for clubs in La Liga or the Spanish second division, according to EL CONFIDENCIAL. As of December, "the total owed to players" reached €1.53M ($2.09M). The sum "came from claims by 34 players against a total of 13 clubs." In '12, 15 players demanding owed payment from eight clubs "were owed" €467,700. An AFE-LFP Combined Commission will "address all of the claims to determine the money that clubs will have to pay their players" (EL CONFIDENCIAL, 12/19).

DEMICHELIS SUING MÁLAGA: OLE reported Man City defender Martin Demichelis "is taking court action against his former club," La Liga side Málaga, "to force the club to pay him" €400,000 ($546,720) "he claims to be owed in back wages." Demichelis spent three years with Málaga. Demichelis' representatives said in a statement, "We have taken action on his behalf to reclaim the quantity which, for diverse redistributive reasons generated during the '12-13 season, the Spanish club owes our client" (OLE, 12/19).
