Executive Transactions

National Rugby League salary cap auditor IAN SCHUBERT resigned on Wednesday. Schubert, who oversaw the investigation into Melbourne's '10 salary cap scandal, "leaves the position after 18 years of keeping clubs in check." Schubert's resignation "continues a significant changing of the guard at NRL headquarters," with veteran communications officer JOHN BRADY "also stepping down this month" (BRISBANE TIMES, 12/18). ... Championship League side Watford has named GIUSEPPE SANNINO as its new head coach "just two days after" GIANFRANCO ZOLA resigned from the position. Sannino, 55, has spent "17 years coaching clubs such as Siena, Palermo and Verona" and brings assistant coaches FRANCESCO TROISE, GIOVANNI CUSATIS and PAOLO DE TOFFO "with him to Vicarage Road" (PA, 12/18). ... New Zealand football has appointed former London Irish rugby boss ANDY MARTIN as its new CEO. Martin "recently oversaw a two-year project that led to the successful buy out of London Irish by a consortium of Irish businessmen." Martin will start work in February and replaces MARK ASPDEN, who was the interim replacement for GRANT MCKAVANAGH following his "sudden resignation in July" (FAIRFAX NZ NEWS, 12/18).
