Real Sociedad on Tuesday night re-elected President JOKIN APERRIBAY, who will "continue to serve in the role for five more years." Aperribay's management of the club and the team's "athletic success have eliminated the opposition that he faced when he took over the position" (MARCA, 12/17). ... Spanish second division side Mirandés has announced that it "has fired" its coach, GONZALO ARCONADA. Mirandés hired Arconada during the summer, "but he has been released after the club won just two of its last 11 games" (EFE, 12/17). ... QUIM PAÜLS is the new coach of Spain's national roller hockey team. Paüls announced that he will "also serve" as the technical director of the Spanish Roller Sports Federation (RFEP) (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 12/17). ... The Spanish Swimming Federation (RFEN) presented its "new coaching staff" on Tuesday. The staff will consist of Competition Dir JORDI CADENS, High-Performance Dir JOSÉ ANTONIO DEL CASTILLO and FRED VERGNOUX, who will coach swimmer MIREIA BELMONTE and the team's long-distance swimmers (EFE, 12/17). ... League Championship side Barnsley has reappointed DANNY WILSON as its manager, "15 years after he left the club." The club sacked DAVID FLITCROFT "last month after slipping to the bottom of the Championship." Wilson confirmed that MICKY MELLON, who has been interim coach since Flitcroft's departure, "will stay on as assistant manager" (BBC, 12/17).
