Liga MX Leon-America Finals First-Leg Match Only Available On Pay-TV In Mexico

Liga MX side Leon Sporting Dir Rodrigo Fernández said that "there will be no negotiations with Mexican free-TV channels Televisa or TV Azteca about the possibility of letting those channels carry the upcoming Liga MX finals," according to Daniel Blumrosen Juárez of EL UNIVERSAL. Many people will not be able to see the first leg of the finals between Leon and America as the game will "not be broadcast on free-TV" because of rights obligations with the teams. Leon execs confirmed that "they will not negotiate with either Televisa or TV Azteca." Fernández: "There will not be a change. The second leg will be played at America's Estadio Azteca and for the first leg, there will be several platforms where people will be able to follow the match." In the history of Mexican football, "there has never been a game broadcast exclusively on pay-TV" (EL UNIVERSAL, 12/9).
