Football Notes: FC Porto Announces Viagogo As International Partner For Ticket Sales

Viagogo reached an agreement with Portuguese side FC Porto to become an official partner of the club. The site, www.viagogo.com, will help promote the int'l sale of tickets and simplify the collection of tickets at Estádio do Dragão (FC Porto). ... FIFA and the Nobel Peace Center launched the Handshake for Peace campaign at the FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2013. The joint initiative between FIFA and the Nobel Peace Center in Norway will combine the global reach of football with a simple handshake -- a Handshake for Peace -- that seeks to set an example of friendship, respect and peace to society (FIFA). ... Following a fight on Sunday between fans of Brazilian clubs Atletico Paranaense and Vasco da Gama that "left three seriously injured," a Brazilian court has "criticized both teams." For Atletico Paranaense, the "punishment could be 20 home matches behind closed doors" and a fine of 100,000 reais ($43,120). Vasco da Gama, "for its part, could also be subject to a fine of the same amount as well as 10 home games behind closed doors" (EFE, 12/10). ... Spanish second division side Real Jaén revealed that the "club was robbed Monday night." The result was an estimated €70,000 ($96,350) in damages. Real Jaén said in a statement on its website, "Last night there was a vile theft at the club's office that has done significant material and economic damage to the team. Real Jaén condemns this crime and is working with the National Police to find the perpetrators" (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 12/10). ... La Liga side Osasuna has "not played a home game at the team's El Sadar stadium in more than a month." Saturday, when "Osasuna returns home to host Real Madrid," fans who do not have season tickets "will have to pay up," as prices will range from €115-€125 ($158-$172) (MARCA, 12/10).
