Manchester United's Wayne Rooney Joins Samsung Galaxy 11 Marketing Campaign

ManU and England striker Wayne Rooney "has been selected to feature in Samsung's new Galaxy 11 marketing campaign," according to SOCCEREX. Rooney joins Lionel Messi, Iker Casillas, Mario Götze and Radamel Falcao on a team of top football players from around the world who will "attempt to save Earth from alien domination in a 'winner takes all' match on a virtual football pitch." While "the final line-up is set to be announced in the coming days," other players to have already been selected for the team include Chelsea's Brazilian playmaker Oscar, Nigerian int'l Victor Moses and AC Milan's Stephan El Shaarawy. German legend Franz Beckenbauer "is the coach of the squad." Galaxy 11 is a global, multi-platform marketing campaign "that will feature across Samsung Galaxy devices, online platforms and social media channels." Rooney's selection "is being highlighted in a short video released on Monday that shows him sparring in a boxing ring in preparation for the game" (SOCCEREX, 12/9).
